Attendance Information

We are very proud of our Attendance at All Saints. We work hard with our students and families to ensure that we maintain our high standards for attendance and punctuality, because we understand the valuable role good attendance plays in supporting students’ learning, progress and life skills. The expectation is that each student is in school everyday.

Attendance team:

Lower School: Mrs Burr
Upper School: Miss Brown

Some children will have days when they’re not able to come to school, whether that’s due to illness or a family emergency. However, missing too much school can be seriously detrimental.

  • Persistent absence can impact friendships: children who miss significant amounts of school will find it hard to build and maintain strong relationships with their classmates.

  • Each day of absence means children miss five lessons, causing them to fall behind. This can make future lessons more difficult and create barriers to regular attendance.

  • Pupils who miss between 19 to 38 days per year stand only a 35% chance of achieving five or more good GCSEs.

  • On average, children who miss 17 or more days in a school year lose one full grade in their GCSEs

At All Saints we believe that good school attendance can only be achieved when all parties are fully engaged, this includes: the child, the parents, all school staff and external agencies where needed. We have therefore developed a 3 tier system to support your children’s school attendance (here).

School Day:

School officially starts at 8:40am.

All students should arrive by 8:30am to allow time to get to form.

During morning registration we:

  • Check you have the correct equipment and books.

  • Share important daily notices (such as room changes).

  • Make sure everyone is settled, focused and ready to learn.

  • Identify anyone who may need extra support that day.

Reporting Absence

Please call or email before 8.30am on the day of absence.

Illness

Absences must be reported each day as separate incidences – with details of the reason for the absence/symptoms, along with the student’s name, year group and form.

NHS Guidance: Is My Child too Ill to Attend School?

Medical Appointments

To authorise absence due to an appointment, evidence of the arranged date/time must be provided. This can be in the form of a screenshot of an email/text or scan of a letter.

Please send all evidence through to the attendance team prior to the appointment.

[email protected] / 01904 647877

Leave of Absence Requests

Please note that all Leave of Absence requests are required to be in writing via our Leave of Absence form which can be found on our website. This is for any other absence that is not medical.

If you require a hard copy, please ask your child to collect one from reception or email/call to notify.

Once the form is completed please email it to the attendance email address or hand it in at reception.

Please note that as per Trust Policy, holidays during term time will not be authorised. Any request from parents will be unauthorised unless in exceptional circumstances and parents take the risk of being issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice.

Our Attendance Promise

At All Saints, we believe that everyone shares the responsibility for great attendance. When we all work together – pupils, families and staff – we can create a positive, supportive environment where students can thrive.

Our aim is to help students attend school regularly and feel happy, safe and successful here. We know that sometimes there can be challenges – no one is expected to manage difficulties alone — we are always here to help.

Every day in school is a step towards a bright future.

We Are Here to Help

If there are any worries or circumstances affecting your attendance, please speak to a member of the Attendance Team or our Pastoral Team. We are here to listen and to offer guidance, support.
