Post-18 Options
Personal development is a core part of our Sixth Form curriculum, designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to prepare for life beyond Sixth Form. We support our students to explore all pathways available to them, including university, apprenticeships, or – where appropriate – taking a gap year to gain further work experience and travel while considering their next steps.
Our programme is enriched by contributions from universities, apprenticeship providers, and a wide range of local employers. We are also proud to involve our alumni in careers events, helping to inspire and guide the next generation of students.
The programme is delivered through dedicated Personal Development (PD) days and regular PD lessons throughout the year.
All students also have the opportunity for a one to one careers consultation with our specialist careers adviser who is in school every week.
If you have any questions about Post-18 options, please contact our Sixth Form team who will be happy to help.
Year 12 Work Experience Programme
Our Year 12 Work Experience Programme runs for one week in the final half term of the school year. It offers students a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a workplace relevant to their interests and future aspirations. This experience helps students develop key employability skills and provides valuable insight into different careers and working environments.
Work experience is highly beneficial for university applications, CVs, and apprenticeship pathways. The programme is consistently well received by students, parents, and employers, and it supports the school’s commitment to the Gatsby Benchmarks for high-quality careers education.
